# 171. ¿Por qué el COVID-19 es leve en niños?

Las diferencias entre niños y adultos no quedan claras, pero se proponen diferentes teoría como **la menor prevalencia de comorbilidades en este rango de edad** (255),  **probable menor exposición, mayor inmunidad por contagio de virus respiratorios más frecuente que en adultos en los meses fríos, como el VRS, la inmadurez de los receptores de angiotensina II (similares a los receptores de SARS-Cov-19) y su sistema inmune, produciendo una respuesta diferente a la de adultos ante el patógeno**(256) (257)(258)
