# 163. ¿Qué sucede en pacientes con diabetes mellitus (DM)?

Un **metanálisis (n:6452)** (236) recoge que la DM se asocia a peores resultados en la evolución del COVID. Se encontró que estos pacientes tenían una **mayor gravedad** del COVID-19 ( RR 2.45 \[1.79, 3.35], p < 0.001; I2: 45%), mayor **progresión de la enfermedad** ( RR 3.31 \[1.08, 10.14], p 1⁄4 0.04; I2: 0%), más riesgo de tener un **SDRA** ( RR 4.64 \[1.86, 11.58], p 1⁄4 0.001) y mayor **mortalidad** ( RR 2.12 \[1.44, 3.11], p < 0.001; I2: 72%). Esta asociación era menor en pacientes menores de 55 años en comparación con aquellos mayores de esa edad. Se encontró que los pacientes menores de 55 años tenían una prevalencia mayor de DM.
